Dr Anwar - TopVET Founder

Azam Anwar, MD, FACC - Founder & Managing Director
Dr. Anwar practiced interventional cardiology for 20 years. He transitioned into the executive suite to develop novel products to bring to the market.  Dr. Anwar excelled as a physician, clinical researcher, and teacher.  He was one of the founders of HeartPlace, one of the largest cardiology practices in the nation, and was a founding board member of Baylor Heart Hospital, one of the most highly regarded heart hospitals in the US. He has published numerous scientific papers, owns many patents and was the founder of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center.  Over the past 25 years he has combined his vast medical experience and expertise and business savvy to invent and commercialize several successful products, including novel cardiovascular stents and syringes, a cardiac surgical device and embolic protection devices, among many others.   After suffering a skin infection and using bleach baths as a treatment, he collaborated with Dr. Clay Cockerell to form TopVET in 2007. 

Dr Clay Cockerell - Founder

Clay Cockerell, MD - Founder
Dr. Cockerell is an internationally renowned dermatologist and dermatopathologist who is recognized as a leading authority in his field. In addition to his work as a clinical dermatologist, he is the director of a  dermatopathology laboratory and serves as a consultant to over 1300 physicians. Dr. Cockerell has personally interpreted over two million skin biopsy specimens in his career. Dr. Cockerell has published extensively and is a highly sought after lecturer in dermatology. He is a past President and Secretary-Treasurer of the American Academy of Dermatology, the largest dermatology organization in the world. He is also a Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Pathology and Director of the Division of Dermatopathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Luis Bartolome - VP of Operations

Mr Bartolome has over 40 years of experience in international operations of pharmaceuticals and consumer products companies, including 30 years with Johnson & Johnson. While at Johnson & Johnson, he served in many positions, including vice president of operations for Neutrogena, vice president of operations for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Europe, and vice president of operations for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Worldwide.

Anne Egger - VP of Marketing and Sales

Anne Egger - VP of Marketing and Sales
Ms. Egger has over 30 years of experience in sales and marketing in the pharmaceutical industry. Upon retiring from Galderma in 2009 after 20 years of service, she founded AME Enterprises, LLC, her own pharmaceutical consulting company. While at Galderma, she served as head of the U.S. Sales & Marketing division.  

Steve Aridgides - VP of Research & Development

Steve Aridgides - VP of Research & Development
Mr. Aridgides has extensive experience in skincare, serving more than 20 years with Johnson & Johnson after previously working for Glaxo SmithKline and Procter & Gamble. Most recently he was vice president of research and development for Neutrogena until he took early retirement in 2009. Before Neutrogena, he was based in New Jersey, where he led the research and development team that supported the aggressive growth of the Aveeno® and Clean & Clear® brands worldwide. Mr. Aridgides was also in charge of the Johnson & Johnson skincare research and development center in France from 2001 to 2004, supporting several skincare brands in Europe and the Middle East. 

Dr Ghali - Medical Director

Fred Ghali, MD - Medical Director
Dr. Ghali is board-certified in Pediatric Dermatology, Pediatrics, and Dermatology. After serving as the Director of Pediatric Dermatology at Cook Children’s Physician Network in Ft. Worth, Texas (1999-2001), he established Pediatric Dermatology of North Texas, located in Grapevine and serving the entire region of North Texas.

Dr. Ghali serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Dermatology at both UT Southwestern and Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He is an active member and has held board positions in the American Academy of Pediatrics/Dermatology, Society for Pediatric Dermatology, and the American Board of Dermatology.  Dr. Ghali is a frequently invited nationwide lecturer in Pediatric Dermatology. He is an author of over 25 publications in peer-related journals and textbooks. Dr. Ghali is the proud co-founder of Camp Braveskin, a special camp in North Texas benefiting children with chronic skin conditions.  Dr. Ghali serves as Director of Ghali Pediatric Dermatology Consultants where he serves as a regional expert in the treatment of eczema, atopic dermatitis, acne, folliculitis and other skin disorders of children and adolescents.

Jack Florio - Director of Corporate Development

Jack Florio - Corporate Development
Mr. Florio spent 29 years with Eli Lilly in a variety of senior marketing and sales management roles in the US and abroad. Over the past 11 years in San Diego, Mr. Florio has led corporate development activities for several pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies. He also has financing experience as both an active angel investor with Tech Coast Angels and spent 3 years in life science investment banking with Brinson Patrick Securities. 

Mr. Florio is currently a Partner with Eckel & Partners, a global healthcare consulting group. He is on the board of directors of BIOCOM and Amplyx Pharmaceuticals as well as being very active in a number of entrepreneurial focused organizations in San Diego such as CONNECT and San Diego Venture Group. Mr. Florio has a pharmacy degree from Columbia University and an MBA from NYU.
